My Etsy Store is Almost Here!

For the 50% of you that voted against my stuffed animals in the poll on the sidebar, I'm giving you one last chance to reconsider and re-cast your vote. Here is the latest series of stuffed animals I've been working on. I think this style of animal is going to be the focus of my Etsy shop. I'm going to try and have the shop up and running by the end of the week. Come on, you know you like em! I've got a sketchpad with about 20 other animals that need to be sewn before I can call quits on this recent mania. Hopefully by then I'll have at least made back my materials fees!

Ah! It's good to be loved. I was pretty concerned at the reaction to my first batch so I wanted something a little more cuddley, but still with personality. Funny that everyone likes the sheep - I thought that was the most blah one. But it's also the easiest to make so that's good I guess.

MsSwarr, calling first dibs is a great idea. I still have to figure out what to price the little guys at. They take 2-3 hours to make a piece and of course there is the cost of materials. What do you guys think for price? They are about 10" by 10", have jingle bells inside to give them a sweet sound when they are picked up and the ones with safety eyes (not buttons) are safe for kids under three.

I don't know who that 50% are, I totally love all the creations. I am loving the ones back at the start: baby, manatee, and chromosomes. I really think there would be buyers for them at Etsy. My fav is Kitty Mcfee. Good luck with Etsy.

I liked the last set, so I don't know if my vote should count. These are SO CUTE!! I would totally stop and look at them and depending on the price I might even buy them all up! I think the pig is my favorite, but there are some very close seconds. I don't know what Etsy is, chalk it up to not being a mom just yet, but I think you will do well!

Ooh, and I had an idea if you wanted to get really crazy - they market little stuff animals with zippered pockets in the bottom that holds a removeable (and microwavable) bag of rice and sweet herbs. Little Cuddle buddies, for little tummy aches!

I don't know...it made me think of you. A whole new market! The medical angle! Think it over. Call me. ;-)

I like Kitty McFee because even though she has been won over to the world of 'cute', she still has those eerie green rings around her eyes that remind me of the traits in you that I find so priceless! (No, not rings under your eyes, that unpredictable nature of yours!) My you are prolific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teah, I love that idea! There are actually a few other people selling that kind of thing on Etsy right now and I've been playing around with ideas for different things to put inside my toys. I have a few lavender sachets laying around that could use a nice home inside a sheep belly ;) I hadn't thought about the idea of making it removable though - that's really smart so that the animal can still be washable. I made the mistake with that ugly baby to put some bean/veggie/pasta soup mix inside of him for weight but then I realized after I'd sewn him up that if he ever gets washed he'll turn into dinner. But hey, maybe that's another angle I can exploit - "it's a toy, it's dinner, KaChow!"

LeiGul, I'm chalking you up for an order of my first batch. Just you wait and see what I'm going to price these things at!

Pfp, in answer to your question about where I find time to do all this stuff, the answer is that I don't sleep. I'm lucky if I get five hours a night. It's kind of a miserable way to live, but I just HAVE to have my alone time at night to do my things and scheme up wild projects that my husband doesn't approve of. He totally doesn't get this toy thing.

This batch isn't so bad. I personally wouldn't buy them. Kudos to you for being so creative, and if they sell out like beanie babies in 1995, you can rub it in my face.

Tofu looks like the When Pigs Fly balloon that visits the ABQ International Balloon Fiesta every year: http://www.fantasyballooning.com/pigs.htm

It's one of my favorite balloons, too. The sheep is awesome--it's the eyes.
