Funny or Smart

So here is the question: Would you rather be funny or smart? Let's say you would make the exact same amount of money each year (say, $63,000) and you wouldn't be famous either way, and you could either be one of the funniest 5% of people you know, or the smartest 5% of people you know. Which would you choose? I ran this by my family, and they came down overwhelmingly in favor of smart. I think the vote was about 10-4. I would choose funny, personally. I don't get much gratification out of people thinking I am smart (maybe that's because they don't?) but there is almost nothing I like better than being told I am really funny (which, unfortunately doesn't happen all that often). Anyway, I want comments. Vote. Tell me your reasons. Don't ask questions about the hypothetical.
