Was It Love?

My dear bloggy friend Compulsive Writer has a Valentine's Day contest going over at her site. Drop by and vote for which of the tales most accurately lead up to this photo. Challenge I was to write the story leading up to the picture and Challenge II was to give the picture an appropriate caption. Be warned, if you don't vote for mine I will electrocute you through your keyboard.

Yours was seriously my favorite.

Please don't electrocute me.

It was one of my favorites, too. And of course "Cue the lava" will forever be my favorite line for whenever I sense impending doom or drama. (And as I have a pre-teen daughter, that could be almost hourly.)

The other entries were too lavish or too cliche for my tastes. Yours was snappy, to the point, and unpretentious.

Cue the Lava!

I'm guessing they were electrocuted by a hollywood flake

I feel I need to clarify here. When I tell you it was one of my favorites I mean it the same as when I tell my children they are one of my favorites (because all my children are one my favorites). Since I sponsored the contest and am much appreciative that people took the time to participate (and also since I am a writer and I know that when you write something you put a part of yourself into your writing), I feel that way about all the entries. The entrants put a lot of time and thought into their entries and they all did a great job!

But admiring "Cue the lava" is like recognizing a particular quality in one of my children that is unique to him or her. It was just brilliant!

There were things that I liked and disliked about each of them, but I didn't have the fifteen minutes required to critque each of them. In the end, Sarah's was the one I enjoyed the most and was the most creative interpretation.

Why do people assume that they loved each other? I think they were enemies who choked each other to death.

Cue the lava.

Sorry, I just had to type that.

If the picture weren't so halloween-ish, I would say it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen! That's how I want to go - dying in my lover's embrace.

I have to go with the payne on this one. They could have easily been two guys fighting in some random bar. They tempted fate by one them saying "I swear God will strike you with lightning if you mention that again". Obviously he mentioned it again.

Oh heck, I was in the middle of typing and it sent the comment! Yours was the best story. That first one had me back in school with iambic pentameter, and I got all woozy.

Had to stop by and tell you your story was a crack-up. It was too good to keep to myself so I made my family read it. Still laughing . . .

My question is: How do you know they just weren't holding each other in a choke hold?

I vote they were murdered by highway robbers and tossed off the side of a cliff. Poor people - they were just going to grandma's village.
