Potty Training Validation

This is posted by Spike.

Finally, someone appreciates me. As Hollywood has mentioned a time or two, we are in middle of the painful process of potty training our two year old, Pixie. In spite of our best laid plans, we have returned to rewarding her with "potty candy" for her success. A few days ago, Pixie saw me eating a piece of candy, and I witnessed one of those rare moments where she had a flash of inspiration, and everything clicked for her. "Oh, potty candy. Daddy, did you go to the potty?"

I must admit I wasn't expecting that, but since Pixie doesn't get candy unless she uses the bathroom, and I didn't want to set a bad example, I said "um, yes,"(which wasn't a lie, in the strictest sense, since I am sure I had at some point that day, and I don't recall having any "accidents.")

I watched in amazement as Pixie's previous look of inspiration morphed into utmost admiration. She smiled and gave me a huge hug and said "Oh, Daddy. I am so proud of you."

It's nice to be appreciated for the little things.

If I didn't eat so much potty candy I wouldn't need to use the potty so often. It's a vicious cycle, I tell you. When will I be able to say I use the potty just because it's the Right Thing to do??

I love it! Penny taking care of Sarah when she was tired, and now being so proud of her daddy. What a good little girl you are raising! :)

Fab darlin'.

Confession: My daughter potty trained my son and it took me 3 days to notice that he was out of diapers.

Yup, I'm just here to make you feel good about yer parenting.

I'm telling you... My mom potty trained me in THREE DAYS with ONE GIANT BAG of M&Ms. I think she's more proud of that than just about anything else I've ever done, including my bachelor's degree...

One time, after potty training my son, we were in a public restroom and he was sure to yell across to my stall "Mom, don't forget to stand on your tippy toes!" It was pretty embarrassing!
