Blissful Weekend

I just got a very pointed death threat regarding the lack of posts lately so I guess I'll scrounge some bloggable stuff together for the site. Forgive me for blog quality today - I'm not feeling it.

Spike is out of town for the weekend living it up in Portland with his brothers. I love the guy, but it's sure nice to have the house all to myself for a few days. I don't have to cook, clean, answer the phone or eat at El Pollo Loco. Pixie and I have been living at the local parks for the past few days subsisting on goldfish crackers and Trader Joe's Dried Wild Blueberries. But the best part of having the weekend to myself is that I can catch up on last season's Alias. They haven't released the DVDs yet, but ABC is showing all of last seasons epidoses on their website for people who need to catch up. I've watched 7 in the last 16 hours and have 6 more to get through before Spike gets into LAX tomorrow morning so it's going to be a long, glorious night of me hunched over the computer watching Sydney's pregnant self kick some terrorist bootie while stuffing my face with leftover Easter candy.

After Spike gets back from a weekend in the mountains with his brothers, he is going to subject me to weeks of career waffling. Most likely, he'll come back determined abandon law and start up a cattle ranch in northern Montana with his five brothers and have all us families live on a hippie commune cutting each other's hair, eating steak and interbreeding our children. After a week or so he'll remember that he hates working with his hands, can't stand the smell of manure and doesn't look good in a trucker hat and will come crawling back to his yuppie L.A. senses. The fact that 10 million people live in LA county is pretty solid proof to me that there's something here that Billings, Montana can't offer. I'm totally sold on this place. We can't afford a house but I don't care since I can't even keep my porch plants alive let alone a whole yard full of green-growies. The other day I was driving home and came to a stop light behind a white Ford Bronco. The license plate read "NOT OJ'S." Only in L.A. I love this town.

The most conclusive proof that I'm dead and gone over living here is that I have developed a sick affection for the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. Now, I'm a Texan and have been a Mavericks fan since junior high so the Lakers have always been the Soldiers of Satan in my book. When we decided to move to L.A., the only valid reason I could find against moving here was having to see Lakers billboards and sports gear everywhere I went. But we came anyway and I tried my best to retain my utter hatred for their basketball team. On Thursday night Spike and I were watching the NBA playoffs, the Lakers vs the Suns and after 10 minutes, I realized that I was actually rooting for the Lakers!! I don't know when or where I came over to the dark side, but I'm a Kobe fan, a Phil fan and am going to be painting my toenails yellow and purple for as long as they are in the playoffs. How fickle is woman.

Gotta get back to Alias - time's a wastin!

Sarah, it's not suprising that you were able to abandon the Mavericks. When we were growing up, they were a pretty lousy team. My biggest shock when I came back from the mission was that the Mavericks actually won games.

You know you want a house. And a yard. And a dog to poop in it. I can be bought...Arf!

NBA, now here's a blog I can get into. You should buck the trend and be a Clippers fan! Buy low, sell high, that's what I say. Lakers are overvalued at the moment. Or maybe you have a thing for Kobe? Well Amanda has had a crush on Allen Iverson for a long time so....
