The Admonition of Paul

The LDS Church has a simple list of our basic tenants of faith called The Articles of Faith. I must say, this morning I was enjoying living Article of Faith #13:

"...indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul- We believe all things,"

I believe them when they say if you never look at the nutritional label, food has zero calories.

"we hope all things,"

I hope I'm right.

"we have endured many things,"

The Freshman 15, Cruise Ship Scarfing, Depression Dining, Social Snacking, PMS Pigouts, Boredom Banquets, Nervous Nibbling, Celebratory Suppers, you name it.

"and hope to be able to endure all things."

I'd like to hope I could live through eating an entire Awesome Blossom at Chili's but am not yet prepared for such a venture. At 2,880 calories and 222 grams of fat, I need to spend a few more years prepping my digestive system.

"If there is anything virtuous,"

Chocolate pudding pie...

"lovely,"

with caramel sauce drizzled on top in delicate swirls...

"or of good report"

Sprinkled with grade A chocolate chips and graham cracker crumbles.

"or praiseworthy,"

Eaten for my lunch in the corner of my kitchen so my toddler never even knew I had it out. A tricky feat for a mother!

"we seek after these things."

Being Mormon is really tough...

It really is tough. I have definitely been true to this "thirteenth article of faith" since becoming primary president this summer along with dealing with the awesomeness of two toddlers who must touch and/or destroy everything in the house all the live long day. For some reason, those things virtuous, lovely and of good report really help me with the stress of it all :)

I really don't have anything relevant to say, but I just wanted to tell you what a brilliant writer you are. Seriously.

wow, i know someone who lives "up the canyon" who can totally relate to your love for pie. you know, pie is not only a praiseworthy dessert, but a lovely breakfast as well, or so he tells me.

this was really creative by the way

I love the one about man being punished for his own sins and Adam's transgression.

That one should really work for you. #1, you're not a man, so you can go Scot Free, and #2, you have a Adam close by....just in case.

I have often wondered what I would do if the prophet came out with an update to the word of wisdom and banned chocolate eating. I think I would DIE.

I never read the calories. Too depressing. I prefer to stay blissfully ignorant.

Amen!
I'm all about the eating the naughty thing in the corner, but forget toddlers--it's the husband I'm hiding it from! I also keep a ben & jerry's at all times in the back corner of the freezer--in case of emergency...or tuesday...or something's on tv.

I so relate...
I've attributed it to post-pregnancy craving and breastfeeding induced feelings of starvation, but you give me hope that it may last well beyond breastfeeding.
You rock Sarah.

Ok I came across this blog searching "the admonition of Paul" ;) I'm helping my daughter with her Faith in God and we wanted to know just what that meant.

Ok let me tell you even being a health nut I saw the humor in this post. Very funny! You would have to know my whole story to know that I have not always been a health nut. But that is to long to post here! Thanks for the chuckle. And the honesty I could totally picture myself hinding from my kids to eat! Cause I don't want to share ;)
