John Michael Higgens' Calves

I just saw John Michael Higgens at my Costco. I didn't know celebrity actors were allowed to shop there. He was getting something from the snack bar and a bouquet of cheap flowers. Go figure. You may know him from such movies as "A Mighty Wind," "Best in Show" and "Evan Almighty." His role as Scott Donlan, the gay dog owner "Best in Show" was sheer perfection.

He has splendid calves for anyone interested.

You have a Costco?

I've probably been near celebrities and just never noticed. I don't look at people around me very much.

I would have never known who that was if I saw him. I look around but don't recognize people very often. Although I don't think many celebrities would be shopping at my neighborhood costco. LOL

Dale Evans and I reached for the same can of Crystal Vanish in Stater Bros. back in 1980something.

I met a comedian Jack....whats his last name in a McDonald's on Santa Monica when I was a teenager. He was old and grumpy, but that was his act as well.

Then just a few years ago I saw Fidel Castro in a jeep in the lane next to me here in town. I know it was him. I think he was on vacation or something. Viva la revolution!

Best in Show is one of the funniest movies ever!

But somehow I'm not so interested in this guy's calves.

when I was at a journalism conference in high school, I had friends who saw Robin William's bum... he was filming the movie patch adams. I saw him riding a bicylce in a yellow jacket, but I couldn't see his calves.

I once saw Doogie Howser at a movie theater in Albuquerque. He's from New Mexico. I'm pretty sure it was him, if not the dude looked just like him!

Now, Hollywood, if you'd risked arrest and taken a picture of this guy's calves while in Costco, then blogged about them, I would say it was a tie with getting good morning'd by Robert Redford. In this case, Robert Redford wins. I was once in a wedding with Mayim Bialik (Blossom from Blossom). We wore matching purple dresses and dyed-to-match shoes. I like this celebrity siting thing. Maybe I'll blog about it.

I don't recognize people either. It is probably better that way, because I would be a total nightmare fan, what with the whispering and pointing and eventually causing a scene.

Okay I'll enter... I saw John Casavetes (the husband in Rosemary's Baby) leaving a McDonalds on Ventura Blvd waaaay back in the '70s.

At New Orleans Jazz Fest a few years ago I saw the gay guy from Sex & the City.

And Waaaaay Back I saw the lovely Paul Newman filming WUSA at the bus station in New Orleans.

Happy Shopping......

Oh, this is fun.

I was at French camp in the 80s with the kid who starred in Big and Newsies (David Moscow). I had such a big crush on him. We weren't actually at the same camp, but his camp and my camp had a special dinner together.

My dad rode in an elevator with Cindi Lauper and her bodyguard way back when.

I played onstage in the orchestra accompanying Itzhak Perlman on the Brahms Violin Concerto in 1992!

OOH! Met Peter, Paul and Mary after a concert!

Mitt Romney shook my hand, called me by name, and said, "Thank you." (I was part of Team 2002.)

I saw Sherrie Dew walking down the street and was so shocked that I said, "That's Sherrie Dew!" She heard me, came over, and said hello.

(shaking head and laughing at myself)

Oh! I forgot until Thor reminded me...When he was a little boy, Cuba Gooding Jr. (and senior) knocked on the door of our house. He was trying to earn money for something and wanted to know if we wanted a hand routed "name board" for over the porch. You know..."The Windsor's" and such.

So yes, waaaaay back in the day we bought a redwood hand routed name sign from Cuba Gooding Jr... now where did we put that thing?

I'm glad you guys have redeemed such a boring post with such great comments! I love all this celebrity sighting stuff. Because we all know that these people really aren't that different from us, but somehow seeing one of them makes us all star-stuck. Weird.

I walked past the cheap flowers at Costco today and thought of your post. I also thought about John Michael Higgen's calves, even though I don't really know who the guy is! Do you realize what power you have over your readership's brains??

And I saw Robert Redford skiing at Sundance when I was riding the chairlift. I thought about spitting on him to get his attention, but then I thought that would be cliche. He must get that all the time.

Okay, my famous person experiences all come from the (now defunct) Texas Film Festival.

1. I had a burrito with director Robert Rodriguez. He showed me some of the shark footage he'd just shot for Spy Kids.

2. Sean Astin once called me a liar. Goonies was, indeed, released on betamax. He later apologized.

Bruce Willis just bought a house a couple of blocks away from me. I have yet to see him though. I wonder if I should send my daughter over to sell girl scout cookies.

Liz - I NEED to come visit you ASAP!! Bruce Willis is the reason I can't sleep most nights. He's the reason that bald is beautiful. He's the reason I look for dead people. It's a good thing I don't live on your street - I'd be in jail for stalking in no time!

That was a hilarious role, but I would never have recognized the guy. You must be a real fan, or have a real memory for semi-famous actors. Speaking of which, if you ever run into Alan Rickman, tell him I want to marry him. You'll know him because he'll be the British guy no one's paying any attention to. :)

I stood about ten feet from Prince Charles and the Queen Mum at a country fair in 1994, but I resisted the urge to holler "Hey, Charlie!" I kind of regret that now.

I also met one of my heroes, Bill Irwin, but no one knows who that is. So nevermind.
Sarah said…
I just googled Bill Irwin - It's "Mr. Noodle" from Sesame Street! But I was an early fan of this guy from the movie Popeye when he does the accordion thing with his body. Great sightings!

I suspected that much about his calves. I love him.

Oh and I met George H. W. Bush last week.
