John Michael Higgens' Calves
I just saw John Michael Higgens at my Costco. I didn't know celebrity actors were allowed to shop there. He was getting something from the snack bar and a bouquet of cheap flowers. Go figure. You may know him from such movies as "A Mighty Wind," "Best in Show" and "Evan Almighty." His role as Scott Donlan, the gay dog owner "Best in Show" was sheer perfection.

I've probably been near celebrities and just never noticed. I don't look at people around me very much.
I met a comedian Jack....whats his last name in a McDonald's on Santa Monica when I was a teenager. He was old and grumpy, but that was his act as well.
Then just a few years ago I saw Fidel Castro in a jeep in the lane next to me here in town. I know it was him. I think he was on vacation or something. Viva la revolution!
But somehow I'm not so interested in this guy's calves.
At New Orleans Jazz Fest a few years ago I saw the gay guy from Sex & the City.
And Waaaaay Back I saw the lovely Paul Newman filming WUSA at the bus station in New Orleans.
Happy Shopping......
I was at French camp in the 80s with the kid who starred in Big and Newsies (David Moscow). I had such a big crush on him. We weren't actually at the same camp, but his camp and my camp had a special dinner together.
My dad rode in an elevator with Cindi Lauper and her bodyguard way back when.
I played onstage in the orchestra accompanying Itzhak Perlman on the Brahms Violin Concerto in 1992!
OOH! Met Peter, Paul and Mary after a concert!
Mitt Romney shook my hand, called me by name, and said, "Thank you." (I was part of Team 2002.)
I saw Sherrie Dew walking down the street and was so shocked that I said, "That's Sherrie Dew!" She heard me, came over, and said hello.
(shaking head and laughing at myself)
So yes, waaaaay back in the day we bought a redwood hand routed name sign from Cuba Gooding Jr... now where did we put that thing?
1. I had a burrito with director Robert Rodriguez. He showed me some of the shark footage he'd just shot for Spy Kids.
2. Sean Astin once called me a liar. Goonies was, indeed, released on betamax. He later apologized.
I stood about ten feet from Prince Charles and the Queen Mum at a country fair in 1994, but I resisted the urge to holler "Hey, Charlie!" I kind of regret that now.
I also met one of my heroes, Bill Irwin, but no one knows who that is. So nevermind.
Oh and I met George H. W. Bush last week.
