Missing Puppy, No Tags

Pixie and I have decided to take a more pro-active route to find her lost stuffed animal, Miri. I posted a copy of this sign all around town today and am hoping we get some leads (click the picture to enlarge it). One of Pixie's favorite books deals with a lost cat and his owner who posted signs around town to find his sweet pet. Taking their lead, she thought this would be a good idea. Is this just being cruel or should I just break it to her that her doggie is gone? In any event, I found it to be an amusing mother-daughter bonding activity.

I gained a new appreciation for real wooden telephone poles today that you can actually use a staple gun on. I also blanketed the laundromat, the library, the farmer's market, the park and the neighborhood by the elementary school. I tried to get into the Senior Citizens Center because I know how clingy some of those folks can get (heaven forgive them if one of them snuck off with our puppy), but it was locked. Now just to sit back, cross our fingers and wait. Pixie is optimistic.

My darling husband, by the way, says I'm retarded. I have no rebuttal.

Update:

I got a voice mail the day after posting the signs. It was from a laughing, nameless woman saying that she had found my puppy. She didn't leave a return phone number. Am I to take it that our puppy is being held hostage? Should I expect further, taunting phone calls? Miri, come back to us!

If the puppy is lost, how on EARTH did you get a picture of it? Please don't tell me you took it for insurance purposes......

Good question, Wiz. Penny actually has THREE of this exact dog. One is black, one is brown, and Miri is light brown. The one I've put in the identical to the one she lost except a few shades darker. Close enough I say.

i hope you find your lost puppy. if not, I think I have this exact puppy a few shades lighter... except I think ours has a red color... my kids don't really care too much for it. Though you know the moment you no longer have something is the very moment they decide they love it more than all other things on the planet.

You should check the lost and found at your favorite stores. I hope you find your puppy.

You will always have this memory to share with your daughter. Men will never understand some things. *giggle*

You also know, now, that she knows you did the very best that you could do about the situation. I'm proud of your efforts. Good.Job.Mom!

That is so awesome. When Penny's grown up she's going to love you for this.

Just a thought, but I saw a dog that looks just like that yesterday only in a Hawaiian shirt and sipping on a pineapple drink down at the pier in Santa Monica. Maybe Miri is just grabbing the last of summer before he has to stay indoors all winter?

Oh by the way, there was a Malibu Barbi hanging around, giving him the eye... I'm just saying.

Did you check your laundry room trash can?? You've found at least one of Penny's beloved itmes in there before... haha!

(in truth, I think this is very cute and creative!)

I think it's great that you did it! Show's Penny that what is important to her is important to you too! Kudos!

Oh, poor Penny. When Meg lost her "favwite puppy" when she was three, she cried every night for a week. And this is sweet. Save the flyer for when she's a teenager and starts screaming about how you never loved her. The flyer will totally shut her up.

I hope he doesn't end up at the stuffed animal pound. They take out their stuffing and ship it off to the Aspirin bottle cotton ball plant. Not a nice fate.

What a cute thing to do -- I hope it works by some miracle.

Does your toddler really have her own email address??

Yeah, I set both Penny and Charlotte up with their own account. Who knows, with the way the world is heading, they'll probably be using them in Kindgergarten. Kids are nuts these days. Plus, I wanted them to have the exclusive gmail account with their actual name before it was too late and all that was left was "sdfhioeh2948439083@gmail.com"

I think that is the sweetest thing I've ever seen a mommy do for her child! I wish I lived in CA so I could come across your flier! I can imagine the smiles on peoples faces as they see it. :)

That's the sweetest thing I've seen all day! Reminds me of the time my youngest sister lost her Mr. Bear on a trail somewhere in southern Utah. There were no telephone poles down there to post signs on. Anyway, I hope your search goes better than my sister's did!

I totally just set up an account for my 11 month old daughter the other day! My thoughts were exactly the same, I didn't want her to be stuck with something strange.
