My Etsy Store is Almost Here!

For the 50% of you that voted against my stuffed animals in the poll on the sidebar, I'm giving you one last chance to reconsider and re-cast your vote. Here is the latest series of stuffed animals I've been working on. I think this style of animal is going to be the focus of my Etsy shop. I'm going to try and have the shop up and running by the end of the week. Come on, you know you like em! I've got a sketchpad with about 20 other animals that need to be sewn before I can call quits on this recent mania. Hopefully by then I'll have at least made back my materials fees!

Kitty McFee
Crime Scene Investigator: Detroit
Tofu Thompson
Botanist
He would be a flying pig if it wasn't for a little weight problem...
Morty
Occupation Unknown - picked up for lewd behavior at 11pm last night

Mug Shot
Bunny Wiggelsworth
Latin American Vigilante

Baaaab Robertson
He does whatever you are doing

Glenda
A charming princess stuck in frog form. But she doesn't mind.

OK, these are so cute! They make me want to cuddle up with them and watch some Saturday morning cartoons!

I was rather concerned with the first examples, but this batch is truly fabulous! I am a huge fan of Bunny Wiggelsworth in particular. Can I call first dibs? I guess not, huh?

Those are way cute! I want the little sheep!:)

amanda said...

sign me up for the sheep too. these little plushies really are your best thing yet. i would get a whole barnyard set if you made them.

They are too cute.

Melinda said...

ok, them are cute. I'm buying the sheep.

Love Tofu Thompson and Glenda!! Precious and perfect. I'd buy one!

I did the pig. If it didn't have little things for pups to choke on, every single one of those would make a killer dog toy. My Bully would LOVE them.

Ah! It's good to be loved. I was pretty concerned at the reaction to my first batch so I wanted something a little more cuddley, but still with personality. Funny that everyone likes the sheep - I thought that was the most blah one. But it's also the easiest to make so that's good I guess.

MsSwarr, calling first dibs is a great idea. I still have to figure out what to price the little guys at. They take 2-3 hours to make a piece and of course there is the cost of materials. What do you guys think for price? They are about 10" by 10", have jingle bells inside to give them a sweet sound when they are picked up and the ones with safety eyes (not buttons) are safe for kids under three.

Okay, you sold me. Those ones are actually cute!

Go Hollywood! These are awesome!

I'd say you have definitely improved on your design! Those are cute!

Myt daughter came running over to see the pictures of these little guys. She loved them, and I think they are really cute! Good luck!

Those are so cute! Stupid nay-sayers... don't listen to them. I say go for it.

These new animals are a lot easier on my eyes. I liked the pig, the sheep and the frog. Okay I LOVE the pig! I just think it is great you follow through with your plans. I am lazy and just plan!

I'm in on the new designs. Love the pig with wings.

I don't know who that 50% are, I totally love all the creations. I am loving the ones back at the start: baby, manatee, and chromosomes. I really think there would be buyers for them at Etsy. My fav is Kitty Mcfee. Good luck with Etsy.

How in the world do have time to do all that sewing, write a great blog, manage your apartments, be a great mom and teach violin lessons? Seriously. Where is the secret fountain of energy you are dipping into?

I really like the sheep, but I still like the ugly baby best.

These I love! They will sell like hot cakes. OOO! That's an idea! Stuffed animals, but in the shape of food instead of animals. Genius!

So at first I was a little scared of these things but the more you make, they better they get. I love 'em!

Those are looking good. I think your on to something

LeiGul said...

Ooooo...I love these. These stuffed animals are exactly the kinds I love. Where can I get my hands on these??? I want one of each!

I liked the last set, so I don't know if my vote should count. These are SO CUTE!! I would totally stop and look at them and depending on the price I might even buy them all up! I think the pig is my favorite, but there are some very close seconds. I don't know what Etsy is, chalk it up to not being a mom just yet, but I think you will do well!

These are darling! I am impressed.

And, oh my goodness, maybe I should add a line to my blog title..."Comment or die". What would I do with so many comments?

These are just gorgeous! I love Baab. He just makes me giggle!

Ooh, and I had an idea if you wanted to get really crazy - they market little stuff animals with zippered pockets in the bottom that holds a removeable (and microwavable) bag of rice and sweet herbs. Little Cuddle buddies, for little tummy aches!

I don't know...it made me think of you. A whole new market! The medical angle! Think it over. Call me. ;-)

Too cute, i am still holding out for a Man-atee and a Wo-manatee.
I wondered if the last batch was inspired by Snow Whites', Woodland Friends.

I like Kitty McFee because even though she has been won over to the world of 'cute', she still has those eerie green rings around her eyes that remind me of the traits in you that I find so priceless! (No, not rings under your eyes, that unpredictable nature of yours!) My you are prolific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too wasn't much of a fan of the last batch, but these are awesome! Good luck with the store!

I totally want the sheep :)

Teah, I love that idea! There are actually a few other people selling that kind of thing on Etsy right now and I've been playing around with ideas for different things to put inside my toys. I have a few lavender sachets laying around that could use a nice home inside a sheep belly ;) I hadn't thought about the idea of making it removable though - that's really smart so that the animal can still be washable. I made the mistake with that ugly baby to put some bean/veggie/pasta soup mix inside of him for weight but then I realized after I'd sewn him up that if he ever gets washed he'll turn into dinner. But hey, maybe that's another angle I can exploit - "it's a toy, it's dinner, KaChow!"

LeiGul, I'm chalking you up for an order of my first batch. Just you wait and see what I'm going to price these things at!

Pfp, in answer to your question about where I find time to do all this stuff, the answer is that I don't sleep. I'm lucky if I get five hours a night. It's kind of a miserable way to live, but I just HAVE to have my alone time at night to do my things and scheme up wild projects that my husband doesn't approve of. He totally doesn't get this toy thing.

Karen said...

You made all those? Girl, you'll sell out by the end of the month!

Jenny said...

This batch isn't so bad. I personally wouldn't buy them. Kudos to you for being so creative, and if they sell out like beanie babies in 1995, you can rub it in my face.

Tofu looks like the When Pigs Fly balloon that visits the ABQ International Balloon Fiesta every year: http://www.fantasyballooning.com/pigs.htm

It's one of my favorite balloons, too. The sheep is awesome--it's the eyes.

Those are really cute!!! I'm a big fan of the not-so-flying pig.

Smoochiefrog said...

I have to also admit that I was NOT a fan of the first bunch. These are 100% better! I would actually consider buying one of these.

Shiloh said...

I think you are going to need more. Alot more. Because all these people want to buy one and I want to buy one and when I show my sister, she is going to want to buy one. And we don't even have kids. Sew on my dear, ever-creative friend, sew on!!!

Heather O. said...

Ok, I have to admit, that sheep is pretty cute. Have to be honest, though--I probably still wouldn't buy them. Sorry. But I'm on your side.

I think they are adorable....and just fun and funky enough to be a total hit!

hi sarah. i've visited you're blog a number of times - it's so entertaining. i feel like i know you so much better, even though it is via the web - weird.
anyway, LOVE the toys. so creative.

you really should do food. i would love to have that for the kiddies to play with rather than plastic.

Michemily said...

I love the pig, lion, sheep, and frog. I was worried when I saw your first creations, but you're getting better. The only problem is, I don't know what I would do with these things.

Michemily said...

P.S. The green background is a good idea.

Jessica G. said...

Okay, now these are adorable! I pink puffy heart T. Thompson!

Ooooh, they all have button eyes like the characters in Neil Gaiman's creepfest book, Coraline. Which is coming in 3-D to a theater near you pretty soon.

LOVE THEM. So creative and cute.
