Call for Help! I Need Your Questions.

I was going to keep this as a surprise, but I actually need your help to prepare. On Monday I am doing a ten minute interview with actress Brenda Strong. Metamucil is sponsoring a swanky red carpet event attended by many well known actresses to raise money for heart disease education and I was asked along with two other L.A. bloggers to attend to up the publicity. Ms. Strong (from the t.v. drama Desperate Housewives) will be hosting the VIP reception before the actual event where I will have 10 minutes alone with her for an interview. I was told I could ask her anything I liked. Since the goal of the fund raising event is to educate women about the threat of heart disease, I should probably ask related questions but I thought it would be fun to come prepared with a few questions from you blog readers as well.

And so here's your chance. I'm hoping to bring her three questions from readers regarding women's health, heart disease, celebrities as philanthropists, or anything else you can think of that won't make her blush. As usual, funny gets you extra bonus points. I'll publish her answers on the blog next Tuesday when I report on the evening.

And just to give you some extra motivation, if I pick your question to use, I'll give you 50% off one item in my store and free shipping. So really, help me have something good to talk about for 10 minutes! I don't usually have a hard time talking to strangers, the problem comes when I try to actually sound intelligent. Here's a list of questions I'm considering:

"I'm sure the folks at Metamucil would like to know the impact of fiber on your digestive system. Could you please explain?"

"Could you listen to my heartbeat and tell me if you think it's diseased?"

"Do you want to buy one of my stuffed animals?"

"Why are you bothering to spend all this time on educating women about heart disease when the real number one killer of women is high heels?"

"I'd love to donate to your cause. But I forgot to bring cash - mind if I borrow a twenty?"

That will only fill a few minutes, guys. Throw a dog a bone.

On the show Desperate Housewives, one of the housewives is "desperate" because she has cancer. And here you are supporting hear disease education - clearly "desperate" about that. What other, more frivilous causes do you think make women desperate these days?

*I feel like I need to add a disclaimer that I don't watch D.H. It's common knowledge that one of them has cancer. Really. Ok, fine...I've watched it once or twice...maybe three times. But I would never watch it regularly since I am personally offended just by the name of the show.*

Do you show up to do your voice- over work in you jammies? 'Cause that looks like just the easiest gig ever.

Don't you think that donating a Wii to all the families that can't afford one will help with more cardio exercise, thus leading to a reduced risk of heart disease? I can send you my address if you want to begin the donation process.

Do you think eating heart shaped foods will help with heart health?

Hope all is well!

Aside from diet and exercise, is there anything else women should be doing to be more heart healthy? What is your exercise schedule? Would you like to watch my kids for a while? It'll bring a whole new meaning of "work out" to your vocabulary. How often do you use Metamucil and does it taste as awful as it looks?

Have you ever had fiber attack after eating something like Nature's Path Optimum Power Breakfast cereal?? If yes did the stabbing pain in your gut almost caust a heart attack? ;o)

Did you know she was in The Work and the Glory movies? I don't think she is LDS but thought it was interesting she was in them.

I would ask her why this cause is so important to her. Does she have relatives or friends who have been impacted?

Do you think women care as much about heart health as they do about getting into their skinny jeans and why?

What is it going to take to get heart health to be as big an issue as breast cancer awareness? When will we be buying red spatulas and cell phone covers in honor of women's heart health month? (I think heart disease kills more women than breast cancer.)

What do they serve at the benefit dinners? Do they go heart healthy or is it filet of beef and buttery mashed taters? Shouldn't it be an oatmeal and fish smorgasbord? (Seriously, am I the only person who wants to know if the actions fit the message?)

Sorry I am not clever tonight. Maybe I will come up with a slam dunk later.

I am seriously concerned about my lack of intelligent questions... how about a group interview... then I won't feel so lame!

Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow night.

2 Questions:
1. Are you only wearing a bra in that picture Hollywood linked to?
2. How easy is it for actors and actresses to work with writers of their shows to incorporate issues that they care about into the storylines? e.g. Would you ever be able to convince DH to work in a bit about heart disease?

How do you get gigs like this? Sounds like so much star-studded fun!

I don't have any question suggestions, but I love the ones you've come up with already. :)

That second question is a really good one, Molly! I'm using it.

And to answer your question, Lindsay, I am practically already the world spokes-person for fiber so Metamucil asking me to be their rep at this event was a given! Anyone with as much passion for regularity as I have should be rewarded in some way.

Oh, and ask if she still gets recognized as the "bra girl" from Seinfeld.

We were watching Spaceballs last night and she is "Gretchen the Nurse" in the scene where they are going to reverse the pricess' nose job.

No way! I read that she was in Spaceballs but I couldn't for the life of me figure out who she was in the movie. That's a crazy makeup and wardrobe job - she's come quite a ways since then!

Why do you spend your career making a dirty tv show? How does it affect your self worth? In what ways do you think your smutty show damages America? Did you always plan on being involved in trashy entertainment, or did you sell out? Does this bit about heart disease help you feel better about your smutty self?

That's what I'm pretty much dying to ask.
