Late Night Scares

My husband doesn't like to watch horror/scary movies so I have to tivo them and watch them while he's gone or asleep. I had The Grudge tivoed today and couldn't wait for him to go sleep so I could indulge in a little scare fest. And now here I am, at 1:30 am and scared out of my brains. The movie turned out to be more scary than I had expected and after 2 hours of holding my breath and silently screaming (so as not to wake my oblivious family), I'm totally jacked up.

Thank goodness for the other blessing of tivo, my three year old's favorite Playhouse Disney shows. Nothing to get the heebie jeebies of a scary movie out of your system like watching some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I'm ten minutes into the show right now and am trying to lose myself in the goofy escapades of Mickey and his gang. I'm hoping that by the end of the half hour show all the pale Japanese demons from The Grudge will be laughing along with me. No signs of a smile from the creepy drowned woman yet.

Why did I do this to myself and more importantly, why am I going to do it again, and again, and again, etc.

In the dark, all alone . . .

You've gotta love that creeped-out feeling where you've got to turn on all the lights afterwards.

I watch scary movies like that too. Who knows why?

I'm with Spike. No scary movies for me. And I'm with you - I worship my TiVo. For it's Playhouse Disney treasures and it's Kids-Naptime-Mommy-TV-Time treasures.
I hope you didn't have some funky dreams where Mickey is being chased by freaky people and only has a wheelbarrow left in his Mouse-ka-tools to save him.

I love scary movies, but the Grudge.....nah, didn't like that one. Watch the Ring alone next time.

I saw the Grudge in the theater with my husband and son. The scary hair thing was creepy. But the croaky noise was so funny. We were joking about it for days afterward.

Don't watch the Ring alone.

Scary movies, no, no, no! The last scary movie I watched was Brigham City, which rendered me unwilling to be alone in any room of my house, including the bathroom. No scary movies for me!

I watched The Ring alone in my apartment while my husband was out of town. Yeah, I'm still scarred by that one. Now THAT was scary. A lifetime of Mickey Mouse can't fix that.

I get scared watching crime shows late at night - even with the lights on and my husband in the room with me. I used to do scary movies. Not any more.

Oh and after I watched The Grudge, my roommate went to friends house, so I was all alone. I nearly jumped out of my skin twice: once when something touched my leg (I think it was my pants!) and again when my CD case started sliding off my stereo. I think I called my best friend and talked to her until late so I wouldn't be alone-alone.

I've never understood why people want to be scared by movies. I HATE scary movies. The news makes me paranoid enough, and I try to avoid that too.

I watched "What Lies Beneath" at the movie theater when I was single living in my own apartment. I went with friends who all went home to roommates. I was totally freaked out to look in the steamed over mirror and I didn't fill the tub for a bath for weeks (showers only, in case you worried I became filthy).

I can't watch scary movies either. I don't like getting that scared feeling.

I have given up watching scary shows after I watched The Ring. That show was crazy and creepy and I will never ever watch it again!!! Movies with creepy possessed kids are the worst!

I also made the mistake of watching The Ring alone at 1 am. My husband was at home in bed, but I went to bed totally wrecked. It took me a long time to get over that one. There is just somethings so very wrong about that movie. And now I'm shuddering all over again.

Yeah, why do you do that?

I really don't like scary movies.

I like suspense-scary, not evil-scary. What Lies Beneath--loved. The Ring--not so much. I won't even touch The Grudge.

Yeah, this movie didn't really scare me thanks to the sixteen-year-old sitting next to me in the theater who had already seen it and kept whispering to her friend, "This part coming up is really freaky." Kinda took away the element of surprise.

Except for the part where the demon-lady gets the chick under the covers. You're supposed to be SAFE under there!

Hey-
Remember when we watched the Ring together? That was stupid. I gave up scary movies after that. Just the picture of the cover of The Grudge scares me-- I had to cover it with my hand to get through your post. I'm gonna go stare at the cover of Beauty and the Beast now, so I can sleep!

I give you credit. I can never watch anything remotely scary or freaking with someone around never mind alone and at night!

This was actually the least scary picture for The Grudge that I could find online. If you want a good creeping out, Google The Grudge images and see what comes up. Or don't.
