Mother of the Year: 2008

I was filming my three year old this morning while she quoted some poems during breakfast and captured this moment on tape. Thought you all might appreciate it!

Of course, the main event was supposed to be the following video of Pixie reciting her favorite poems from the book, Polkabats and Octopus Slacks by the irresistibly funny poet/artist, Calef Brown. Colleen sent us this book after I saw a copy of hers when she was visiting and had a fit of jealousy for it. Thanks so much, Colleen! Penny can recite by heart 13 of the 14 poems in the book. We had no idea she loved it so much until one night for family night she just started saying the poem, Funky Snowman. Half an hour later she had said all the rest of them. What a gal! Sorry, she will probably be hard to understand, but I think there is a copyright issue if I put the actual poems here on the blog.

I don't think it's a copyright issue if you sight the source :) you know... the whole "Make sure you include a Bibliography with your paper!!!" curtesy of your old highschool english teacher ... :D

Cute kiddo!

Um, how the crap does a 3-year old learn to memorize and so memorably recite poetry? That was amazing and you have a very talented little girl there. The butter video was hilarious, too.

Get that girl an agent.

Pixie is amazing! Elijah was watching both videos with me and giggling. While he doesn't recognize the genius involved in her theatrics, he was happy to see his little friend. That girl's got some serious talent.

Unbelievable. Pixie is a genius--at theatricals AND memorizing. And she's absolutely beautiful. Who would have guessed! Get her in a movie, quick.

forget about "I can't believe its not butter" spray in the eye...what must it be doing to her insides!?!

Amazing little performer you have there. Somehow I thing she must have a talented mom who she is learning from.

thank you for spraying your daughter in the face with butter. things like this make me laugh and bring joy to my life. it's nice to know I'm not the only mom who does things just for a laugh -- like giving my son lemon juice so I can laugh at his funny face. my husband thinks I'm crazy... maybe....

Very impressive! I have to agree with others, she is super-talented and should be in films already.

And the butter? Shame on you. haha just kidding. I laughed out loud because it's something I would do-- and of course be reprimanded by Danny. heh heh
For the record, it was frickin funny. 'Tell me you're sorry' is a classic.
