Hot Mama

I finally did it. I bought something off an infomercial.

It was 5 am, I was ticked about having to do a pre-dawn diaper change, and was taking out my frustrations on bad t.v. And there is was. Sheer Cover makeup promised to bring health, happiness and utter stardom to my life. I picked up the phone and got the whole set.

So what if I don't usually even wear makeup. So what if the only people who see me during the day are the maintenance men. So what if I put on makeup like a third grader. Every morning for the past week I've put on a full face of concealer, foundation, blush, liners, shadows, mascara and gloss. I'm the hottest woman in sweat pants in all of L.A. And yes, they are the same sweats that I wore yesterday. And the day before.

The infomercials promises have all been true. My life is far better than it was before I bought the makeup. As I do my daily rounds from the throwup to the pee, to the dishes, I keep shooting myself come-hither looks in the mirrors and pouting my glossy lips. Sure, I'm still stuck in the grind, but I'm the sexiest cog it will ever have. Yes, I realize this is a totally conceited post but when you usually spend an entire week trying to remember to just brush your teeth, actually "making yourself up" every single day is a utterly giddying.

Today I think I'll go for the diva look. There is some great sparkley purple eyeshadow in my kit I haven't tried yet. I think it will complement perfectly the mysterious orange goo on my baby's onesie.

Do you look fabulous today? I do.

I tried sheer cover and liked it however they bill you funny and I had a hard time getting my money back. Since then I have used bare escentuals and the product is SO much better! Everything about it I like better...try it if you like sheer cover!

You Go Girl. Angelina's got nothin' on you. You know she relies on nannies and Brad. Pout those lips, they're gorgeous.

#5 wanted an "Egg-Stracter!" for the longest time. I was ecstatic when I saw an "As Seen On TV!" store while I was downtown Santa Barbara. I went in and it was the Mother ship for infomercials! Hoooooly Cow!

Have fun with the make up!

Glad to know you like it. I have been thinking about getting it or Bare Essentials. Erica I will try the bare essentials, there is a store near me. Yea for a hot mama, I propably would feel a lot better everyday if I did my makeup, only my kids and hubby would see it but I would feel better.

I haven't tried Sheer Cover, but I use Alima mineral makeup and loooove it. They make the softest brushes ever.

Yep, I'm totally one of those moms who wears makeup even on the days (weeks) I don't leave the house.

Just reading this post make me turn green of envy, you, glamour Holly W! :)

"There is some great sparkley purple eyeshadow in my kit I haven't tried yet." This paragragh is screaming for a set of a HOT take-myself pics. Smile, please!

PS This shots can be your magazine cover collage for the Valentines issue... You know, The special Edition!?
Awesome! So are we going to get pictures of the new glamourous you? I always feel a little better if I get a little make-up on. The sheer cover stuff, I must admit has looked pretty cool.

You crack me up! I'm with you - I'm normally not one for make-up (although, I can't step out of the house without mascara on), and when I do, I feel like I've been playing in my moms stash and I have no idea what I'm doing! haha! Maybe if I got me some Sheer Cover, I could feel like a new woman, too!

The thing about makeup -even new makeup- is you have to take it off. And at 10pm I don't want to scrub my eyes until they bleed, or get the mascara off, whichever comes first. But I have been tempted by those darn commercials, too.

My husband totally laughs at me because I do my hair and makeup, but LIVE in sweats. :)

Be careful with the purple eye shadow. I can't make it work. It makes me look like I've been in a fight.

I'm with Erica. Bare Essentials is the absolute best!

It is simply amazing how much more productive I am around the house when I am wearing makeup. Why IS that?

Purple eyeshadow? If they can pull it off, you surely will!

you go, honey. I'm a long time believer that you either get dressed OR put on makeup OR do your hair. if you start to do all 3 too often, people will start to expect things from you.

I'll be laughing all day at that one, Amberlee! Can you be my life coach?

Just the other day, I bumped into an infomercial site that would be of interest to you: Flake Free at

I think you have found your new future: Hollywood Flake Free....

P.S. Cute site; glad to have found it!

I totally wanted to buy that stuff! I ended up buying Bare Escentuals mineral makeup online with a Nordstrom gift card I got for my birthday. Only the makeup--no eyeshadow or blush :(

Yeah, if I had that makeup kit I would use it every day for at least a couple of weeks and I KNOW it would make me look HOT!

I've wanted to get that makeup since I saw the infomercial years ago, I just have a hard time spending more than 5 bucks on makeup. Some day...

It's the little things like makeup that can make you feel good about yourself. Even when you don't go anywhere. I try to wear it everyday, I don't want to scare my kids friends but I don't wear it to the gym. Allthough I have seen many that do. No that's crazy!

Ooh, you are a SAHM! (I knew that, but this confirmed it.) I remember when I got my brand-new Mary Kay makeup kit 2 years ago I felt like a movie star playing myself as I walked around my house in sweats with baby snot on the shoulder.

Are we pathetically lame or what?

It's all about feeling hot. I got these boots for Christmas that make me feel so hot it's unbelievable. I could be wearing pajamas with them and I'll still be strutting and swaying my hips like I'm on a runway. I love it. Not matter that I actually look ridiculous - I FEEL hot.

I'll go days without makeup which is so not like me at all. But I find on the days when I wear makeup, the hubby lingers a little longer at lunch, maybe comes home from work a little sooner...and I don't scare nearly as many salesmen.

I feel SO much better when I put some make up on! I don't spend a lot of time doing so, but at least I think I look better, so then I feel better.
